SP Fabrication & Design manufactures bespoke furniture, luxury architectural woodwork, and commercial millwork in our Cranford, New Jersey fabrication workshop. Because every order is built to exact architectural dimensions, we coordinate delivery and freight with precision to ensure your pieces arrive in pristine condition.
Standard Production Timeline: 5–8 Weeks
Standard production and delivery time for custom made-to-order furniture and commercial millwork is 5 to 8 weeks following approved shop drawings, material sign-offs, and initial deposit. Fast-track fabrication for time-critical hospitality, salon, or office grand openings is evaluated upon request based on current workshop capacity.
1. Production & Fabrication Lead Times
Each piece produced by SP Fabrication & Design is handcrafted to your exact specifications. Our production lead time begins when all project variables are confirmed:
- Approved Shop Drawings: Final architectural dimension sign-off and approval of 2D/3D fabrication models.
- Material & Finish Selections: Sign-off on hardwood species, stain or paint codes, wood veneers, metal hardware accents, and commercial upholstery fabrics.
- Deposit Confirmation: Receipt of the project retainer or fabrication deposit.
Standard fabrication and delivery typically takes 5 to 8 weeks. Complex multi-unit commercial packages, custom architectural curved banquettes, or large-scale millwork installations will receive a tailored milestone schedule prior to project commencement.
2. Tri-State White-Glove Delivery & Installation
For clients located across the New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut metropolitan region, we offer dedicated white-glove direct delivery and on-site installation by our own skilled craftsmen:
- Coverage Area: Northern and Central New Jersey, New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island), Long Island, Westchester County, Connecticut, and Greater Philadelphia.
- Service Inclusions: Inside placement to the designated room or commercial floor, precision leveling, seamless field joint connection, mounting, assembly, and 100% removal of all packing debris.
- Scheduling: Our logistics coordinator contacts you 5 to 7 days before completion to establish a convenient delivery appointment window.
3. Nationwide Freight Shipping (Continental US)
We ship custom furniture and modular millwork across all 48 contiguous United States via trusted LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight carriers and dedicated blanket-wrap carriers specializing in high-end furnishings.
- Curbside Freight Delivery: Standard commercial freight delivery is to the curbside, commercial loading dock, or exterior apron. Liftgate service is included where loading dock access is unavailable.
- Freight Tracking: Once your shipment leaves our Cranford, NJ facility, we provide a bill of lading (BOL) tracking number and carrier contact details so you can monitor transit milestones.
- Delivery Appointments: The freight carrier will call 24 hours in advance to schedule a delivery appointment window with the site contact.
4. Custom Crating & Protective Packaging
To safeguard delicate finishes, fluted wood profiles, integrated stone tops, and architectural metal accents, every freight shipment is packaged with industrial-grade protection engineered in-house:
- Multi-layer foam edge guards and impact-resistant corner cushions.
- Moisture and dust vapor barrier wrap.
- Rigid heavy-duty wooden shipping crates custom-built to the exact dimensions of each piece.
- Shockwatch and Tip-N-Tell transit monitoring indicators applied to sensitive freight crates.
5. Commercial Job Site & General Contractor Coordination
For commercial hospitality, retail, and corporate tenant-improvement projects, we seamlessly coordinate delivery with project managers and general contractors (GCs):
- Certificates of Insurance (COI): We issue customized COIs naming property management, landlords, and general contractors as additional insureds upon request.
- Loading Dock & Freight Elevator Reservations: Please confirm building freight elevator dimensions, loading dock clearances, and required arrival windows with your project coordinator.
- After-Hours Delivery: After-hours, weekend, or union-rule phased deliveries can be arranged with advance scheduling.
6. Delivery Day Preparation & Receiving Protocol
To ensure a frictionless delivery experience, please verify the following site conditions prior to delivery day:
- Clear ingress pathways: Verify stairwell turns, hallways, elevator door heights, and interior doorways accommodate the dimensions of the crated or assembled furniture.
- Site readiness: Flooring, painting, and primary rough-in trades should be complete in the installation zone to prevent post-delivery damage.
- Authorized recipient: An authorized adult or site supervisor must be present to inspect the delivery and sign the delivery receipt.
7. Inspection & Freight Damage Reporting
While damage during transit is rare due to our custom crating standards, thorough receiving inspection is essential:
- Inspect Crates Before Signing: Carefully examine the exterior of all wooden crates and cartons for punctures, crushed corners, or broken seals before signing the Bill of Lading (BOL).
- Note Damage on the BOL: If any damage or suspected rough handling is observed, write "DAMAGED UPON DELIVERY" with specific details directly on the driver's delivery receipt before signing.
- Notify Us Within 48 Hours: Take clear photographs of the crating, shipping labels, and any affected furniture components, and email them to info@sp-fabrication.com within 48 hours of delivery. Our workshop team will immediately coordinate repair, field service, or priority component replacement.
