Two decades at the bench.

A team of designers, master makers, and project managers shaping timber, steel, and stone in North Plainfield, NJ.

Our Story

We are a
workshop, first.

The SP Atelier

SP Fabrication & Design began at a single bench in North Plainfield, New Jersey — one maker, a set of hand tools, and a conviction that furniture should be built to be inherited.

Two decades on, we are a team of designers, master makers, and project managers serving homeowners, interior designers, and the brands behind some of the country’s most recognized spaces. What hasn’t changed is the bench: every piece is still drawn by hand, engineered in-house, and finished as though it were staying with us.

What We Believe

Four principles at the bench.

01

Drawn by hand

Every commission begins on paper. We sketch, we mock up, we sit with a piece before a single board is cut.

02

Engineered to last

Joinery over hardware, solid stock over veneer. We build for the second generation, not the next photo shoot.

03

Honest materials

Timber, steel, and stone chosen for how they age — and finished so they only get better with use.

04

Finished as our own

Nothing leaves the shop until it would be welcome in ours. White-glove, start to install.

Workshop detail

“We measure our work in decades — in the pieces still in use long after the room around them has changed.”
