Osaka Dining Table

<p>The Osaka Dining Table is built on a single principle: the most beautiful thing about solid walnut is what it already is. Our role is to reveal it, not to cover it up.</p>

<p>Each table begins with a hand-selected solid American black walnut slab — air-dried in our yard for a minimum of six months before it is ever touched by a tool. We are looking for strong figure, consistent thickness, and the particular grain character that comes from a tree that has grown slowly and experienced real seasons.</p>

<p>The live edge, where preserved, records the exact perimeter of the tree at the moment of felling. No two tables are alike. The mineral streaks, the changing grain direction, the subtle shifts in heartwood and sapwood — these are features, not flaws. They are what wabi-sabi means in practice.</p>

<p>We finish the surface with a hand-rubbed blend of tung oil and linseed, applied in multiple thin coats and buffed between each one. The result is a surface that feels like wood — warm, matte, and alive to the touch — not glass. It will deepen with each re-oiling over the years.</p>

<p>The base is solid walnut or powder-coated steel depending on configuration. Mortise-and-tenon joinery throughout. Seats six to eight persons comfortably. Custom sizes and base configurations available.</p>
